3 Signs Your Car’s Windshield Has Not Been Correctly Installed

As you drive to work, drop your children to school, shop for groceries or run errands, you can be driving around with a potential danger right in front of your eyes. An inappropriately installed windshield. In fact, chances of your car’s windshield being incorrectly installed are very high, especially, if you have recently got your factory fitted windshield replaced with a new one. There’s a growing concern over the rising number of schlock operators in windshield service industry, and these concerns are continuously being voiced by well-known industry experts for past few years. As for the discussion about the hazards of improperly installed windshields goes, there have been reported incidents where passengers have died because of this very negligence. You may drive with fastened seat belts and fully functional airbags, but you and your family’s lives aren’t safe in a crash if your car’s windshield has not been correctly installed following a replacement job.     So how do you identify that you have been a victim of poor workmanship – that your car’s windshield has not been properly installed?

Sign #1: You can hear a dull ‘whoosh’ sound emanating from your car’s windshield while you drive

It’s the most common tell-tale sign, indicating that your windshield has not been correctly installed.  You’ll hear this sound in particular as you move over a speed bump, hit a pot hole or drive at high speeds. So make sure the next time you drive, you keep the volume of the car’s radio on low—your windshield might be saying something really important.

Sign #2: The view from inside the car looks wavy or crooked

An incorrectly installed windshield gives a wavy or crooked look from the inside. If it isn’t there immediately after the installation, it might show up with time. Such observation is an indication of a shifted windshield, and so, you should get it immediately realigned by taking your car to a nearby reliable windshield replacement shop.

Sign #3: Water on dashboard, but you can’t recall any incident of a spill

This one is a little hard to figure out. Your car’s roof might be leaking or you might have left open one of your car’s front seat windows, allowing rainwater to seep in. It could also be the case following a car wash. To tell for certain, you’ll need to test your car’s windshield for any potential leaks. If even a drop of water gets into your car following the leak test, it’s a sure sign that your car’s windshield has been incorrectly installed. An incorrectly installed windshield, what next?
